URGENT NEED Letter from Founders Minimize

On Tuesday, January 12, Haiti was rocked by an earthquake the magnitude of 7.0. The damages are severe. We were blessed to be able to get through to our House of Blessings director. She and the children are safe and the orphanage is intact. But the country has experienced devastation and much is in ruin. Please be in prayer for the people of Haiti, including the staff and children at House of Blessings - and please give as you are able to help us with anticipated disaster relief efforts. You can give online by clicking on the PayPal donate button below. Tax deductible checks can be mailed to:

Helpings Hands in Motion
c/o Richard Fields
743 NW Biscayne Drive
Port St. Lucie FL 34983

Please pray that we'll be given wisdom about what best to do and when - and thank you for anything you can give.

Blessings,
Phil and Lonnie Murphy

Ambassadors of Hope in the Rain

Dear friends - The rains are upon us here in Haiti! I returned to Haiti on May 16 with a team from Lake Wales, Florida and it has been raining almost every day since they left. We have been interviewing those in great need and one thing we hear almost every time is the fact that people are sleeping standing up. Heavy rains cause flash floods that run across the ground and into make-shift homes where people are trying to live. The stories are unbelievable.

Earthquake Relief - April 2010 Update

As I prepare for another trip to Haiti I have been reflecting on the last month and the incredible things that have been going on. At the start of this month Lonnie and I went to Haiti. It was her first trip since the earthquake. Lonnie was able to visit her Haiti and say goodbye to familiar scenes that will never be the same again. She also walked all over the Callebasse area to see the extent of the damage and sit with friends and listen to their stories. She wept and laughed with those she served for many years. It was a hard time for her but a time of healing as well. ...read more...

Report on the Children of Program Program

Phil Murphy, co-founder of House of Blessings and the Children of Promise Sponsorship Program in Callebasse, Haiti, reports on his recent visit to the community of Callebasse and with the sponsored children there:

Augustine Home“On January 16, a team of four headed to Haiti to assess the needs and determine the approach to be taken over the next few weeks and months. A portion of that assessment was to locate and visit with Isaac Adrien who is the coordinator for the Children of Promise program in Haiti.

We found the House of Blessings in good shape with no structural damage. The kids were still sleeping outside because they were afraid; but, other than that, there were no injuries among our sponsored children. We were able to visit the homes of 16 of the 20 children sponsored in Callebasse.   Some are in rubble, others have portions standing, but are not inhabitable; five homes are okay; and a few we were not able to get information about.   ...read more...
